The Princess And the Warrior
Background Information: The Princess And The Warrior [Top] The Princess & the Warrior is a 2000 film written & directed by Tom Tykwer with Franka Potente, star of his previous movie Run Lola Run, in a leading role. It follows the life of Sissi, a psychiatric hospital nurse & Bodo, a average man who lapses into criminality, but allows other characters equal time for development. We see how Sissis routine life is skewed by a near-death experience & her subsequent relationship with Bodo. The film, like Run Lola Run, places great empathsis on fate & decisions. the accident that brings Bodo & Sissi together, the intense bank robbery & the final scene. The film begins with the mailing of a letter destined to Sissi, a nurse in a psychiatric hospital. Sissi cares for her patients to the effect that they are her extended family. As such, she is oblivious to how life functions outside the hospital. Meanwhile, Bodo, living with his brother, applies for a funerary job & is quickly dismissed because of his inability to control his emotions.
Consumer DVD Review [Top] I cant recommend this film enough. The camera work is stunning with some of the best panning Ive ever seen in a film. The music is not too intrusive, & gently lulls the viewer into another world featuring Sissi & her search for her ideal partner. The movie is a love story unlike any you will ever see again. I fell in love with this movie due to the strong characters, the theme, the music & the camera work. Its my favourite film.
