Editorial DVD Review

Give credit to director Betty Thomas for making the notorious Howard Stern, self-proclaimed king of all media, into a nerdish but appealing media rebel who loves his wife & family. Even if you hate Sterns rude radio show, you may discover that the underdog charm of this warm, whimsical film turns you into a fan, for the length of the film at least. Stern delivers a winning performance as the clumsy college kid & aspiring disc-jockey-turned-demon-shock-jock, who becomes an unlikely hero as he battles station managers, network executives & conservative arbiters of decency in the name of unfettered bad taste. Mary McCormack is fine as his understanding wife, Alison, & long-time Stern sidekicks Robin Quivers & Fred Norris acquit themselves nicely appearing as themselves.
Biography: Howard Stern

Howard Allen Stern is an American radio personality. The self-proclaimed King of All Media has been dubbed a shock jock for his highly controversial use of scatological & sexual humor & inflammatory & his perceived by many to be bigoted comments about various religious & ethnic groups. He is both the highest-paid radio personality in America & the most-fined personality in radio broadcast history—facts, as his fans know, he takes a pride in. Stern received his Bachelors degree in 1976 from Boston University, where he had worked as a volunteer at the college radio station. After graduation, he worked as a disc jockey for an obscure New York City station playing rock music. He discovered a talent for Lenny Bruce -type comedy & developed a wide-ranging confrontational style. He migrated to FM radio stations in Detroit, Michigan & Washington, D,C. & returned to New York City in 1982 to work at an NBC -affiliated AM radio station WNBC-AM. Also working at NBC was David Letterman, who became a fan of Sterns radio show. Posters Of Howard Stern

Biography: Robin Quivers
[Top]
Robin Ophelia Quivers is a talk show host & one of Howard Stern s side-kicks on his show, The Howard Stern Show. Quivers was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Quivers has been in the radio business since 1980, joining Stern in 1981 at DC101. Prior to her radio career, she was a nurse in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Captain. Quivers has been witness to Sterns antics, such as the time he called Air Florida to ask for a one way fare from Washington s National Airport to the 14th Street bridge where an Air Florida plane had crashed just one day before. She has also been witness to Sterns interviews with transsexuals, Hollywood stars, porn industry stars & many other people. She is also an avid equestrian. Stern was fired a number of times during the 1980s from radio stations because of his antics. Quivers always went along with Stern whenever their show would take them, and, with time, they have formed what seems to be a solid friendship. When Sterns show went on television, Quivers fame grew, largely because now her face was recognizable. Posters Of Private Parts
