South Park: Vol. 3
Background Information: South Park [Top] South Park is a comedy animated series created by Matt Stone & Trey Parker. Airing on Comedy Central since 1997, it follows the surreal adventures of four young boys who live in the small town of South Park, Colorado. South Park satirizes many aspects of American culture & current events, challenges deepset convictions & taboos & quite often tops everything off with a thick coat of black humor. As of December 2004, South Park was in its 8th season & signed through the 10th. The show is noted for handling current events while still current & in a characteristically blunt fashion. For example, an episode involving the repatriation of Romanian quintuplets aired during the Elián González issue & included the character Janet Reno, the US Attorney General at the time. Another episode aired after the September 11, 2001 attacks had the boys stow away on a military transport to Afghanistan & encounter Osama bin Laden. South Park got its start in 1991 when Trey Parker & Matt Stone, then film students at the University of Colorado, created an animated short called Jesus vs Frosty. Posters Of South ParkConsumer DVD Review [Top] Volume 3 of South Park is probably the best collection taken from the first season. The disk has 5 episodes including the end of season "cliff-hanger" imaginatively titled "Cartmans mum is a dirty ....!".
On first viewing the humour seems base & immature, but it is actually far subtler than it initially seems. As an example, look at "Mr Hankey, the Christmas Poo" which is a wry look at the way Political Correctness can go way to far, eventually destroying the essence of humanity & society. I highly recommend this collection to anyone who has a sense of humour, & a firm grip on reality. If you have any doubt about just how clever South Park can be, watch these, if you are offended in any way while viewing them, the you are truly missing the point P.S. It seems that "Chef" is a fan of funk band, The Time. Biography: Isaac Hayes [Top] Isaac Hayes is an influential soul singer. He began his recording career in 1962, soon playing saxophone for The Mar-Keys. After a period of activity with Stax Records, Hayes released Presenting Isaac Hayes, a moderate success recorded immediately following a wild party. Hot Buttered Soul was a breakthrough success & established his image which eventually became a template for much of the fashion of gangsta rap & similar trends in the 1980s & 90s. Hayes biggest hit was 1971 s soundtrack to Shaft, the title track of which clearly presaged disco. Black Moses became almost as successful. By 1975, Hayes left Stax Records & formed his own label called Hot Buttered Soul Records. A series of unsuccessful albums led to Hayes bankruptcy in 1976. The late 1970s saw a major comeback for Hayes, following the release of A Man & a Woman. In spite of moderate success as a singer, Hayes records did not sell very well. In the 1980s he had appeared in some TV shows, including The Rockford Files.

In 1997, Comedy Central debuted South Park, which he & Trey Parker created. He graduated from Columbine High School. On South Park, he is the basis for the fictional character Kyle Broflovski, from the characters appearance to his parents. In 2002, Stone was interviewed in the 2002 Michael Moore documentary, Bowling for Columbine. In the film, there is a short animated segment about the history of guns done in what has been described as a south park-esque manner. Stone, who enjoyed the film, expressed anger over what he saw as a misleading attempt by Moore to insinuate that the South Park creators had a hand in the making of the film when in fact both Stone & Parker own guns as do their families.
