The Parent Trap is the title of two movies by Walt Disney Corporation, one made in 1961 & a remake made in 1998. The original 1961 version was followed by three made-for-TV sequels in the 1980s. Maureen OHara & Brian Keith play the parents in the 1961 movie; Natasha Richardson & Dennis Quaid in 1998. Both twins are played by one actor. The original story is based upon the German childrens book Lisa & Lottie, by Erich Kästner. In both movies the plot revolves around a pair of identical female twins, who are separated in infancy when their parents separate, each taking one twin with them. In the 1961 original, one twin lives in Boston & the other twin in California, while in the 1998 remake one lives in London & the other in California. If you were a kid in the early 1960s, then you saw The Parent Trap with Hayley Mills, its as simple as that. Now Disney has pulled the beloved comedy, about a pair of twins who meet for the first time at summer camp & vow to reunite their long-divorced parents, out of the mothballs & remade it with a decidedly 90s feel. This time, the twins act is performed by newcomer Lindsay Lohan, who plays both Hallie & Annie, who each live with one of their parents . Adversaries when they first meet at camp, Hallie & Annie become, well, sisters when they figure out that they are siblings. The comedy springs from their efforts to sabotage Dads impending marriage to the gold-digging Elaine Hendrix, while reintroducing Dad to Mom. Quaid has a nice, loosey-goosey way with slapstick, as does Richardson, who plays a very funny drunk scene.

Dennis William Quaid is an American actor. Quaid studied drama at Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas & later in college. He dropped out of college before graduating & moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career. Dennis initially had trouble finding work but began to gain notice when he appeared in Breaking Away & earned good reviews for his role in The Right Stuff. Aside from acting, Quaid is also a musician & plays with his band the Sharks. Randy Quaid, Dennis older brother, is also an actor. Quaid was married to actress Meg Ryan from 1991 to 2001. They have one child together, Jack Henry. In 2004, he married real estate agent Kimberly Buffington. His first marriage, from 1978 to 1983, was to actress P J Soles. Quaid works with the charity International Hospital for Children in New Orleans. He makes trips to Central America to help build medical clinics & transport sick children back to the United States for treatment they cannot get locally. Lindsay Morgan Lohan is an American actress & pop music singer. Lohan was born in New York City & raised in Merrick, Long Island, New York. Lohan started in show business as a child model for magazine & television ads. At age 10, she began her acting career on a soap opera ; at 11, she made her motion picture début by playing both twins in Disney s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.
