Editorial DVD Review

Janice Beard 45 WPM is a film for anyone who ever swam in the typing pool. It also provides reassurance that anyone who works in an office isnt alone in feeling alone. Scottish Janice suffers a never-ending bad hair day while temping at Kendon Motors during a car launch. Shes earning pennies for her agoraphobic mother, to whom she sends elaborately staged videos fibbing about her successes in the big world. So simple a life gets complicated by the evil machinations of typing pool shark Julia , & the dangerous allure of office boy Sean . An industrial espionage sub-plot tugs the light-hearted tone downward only very occasionally. Co-written & directed by first-timer Clare Kilner, on its original release this became a film festival favourite thanks to its dizzy charm , seeing the Kensit of Absolute Beginners struggle at a Salsa class & for opening with the line: My father died in childbirth.
Biography: Patsy Kensit
[Top]
Patsy Kensit is a British actress. She has starred in several prominent films but is perhaps more well-known for her three celebrity marriages. She was born Patsy Jude Kensit in Hounslow, London, with Reggie Kray as her godfather. It soon became clear that Patsy was to become an actress. Aged only four, she appeared in a television advert for Birds Eye Peas. In 1974 she had her first role in a movie; The Great Gatsby starring Mia Farrow. In 1985 Kensit was the lead singer of band Eighth Wonder. The band had three Top 40 singles but television appearances on programmes like Top of the Pops gave much needed exposure to Kensit. Her big break came in 1986 when she was selected to play Crepe Suzette, the female lead in the movie Absolute Beginners, with David Bowie as her co-star. The film was critically panned & was also box office flop. Another notable film role was in Lethal Weapon 2, in which she played Rika van den Haas, the South African consulate secretary that cop Martin Riggs falls in love with. Posters Of Patsy Kensit
