The Nutty Professor is the name of a 1963 comedy film starring Jerry Lewis. The plot is a loose parody of Robert Louis Stevenson s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. Lewis plays Professor Julius Kelp, an extremely socially inept professor who invents a serum that turns him into the extremely smooth & charming character Buddy Love. In 2004, the film was added to the National Film Registry. A 1996 remake starred Eddie Murphy as university professor Sherman Klump, suffering from severe obesity. He invents a miracle weight loss potion so he can seduce the girl of his dreams. Through a hilarious sequence of events, he eventually discovers that an unfortunate side effect of his invention is disassociative identity disorder. Lucky for Eddie Murphy he got hold of the rights to this 1963 Jerry Lewis classic before Jim Carrey did. Murphy had a comeback of sorts with his Jeckyll-and-Hyde-derived fable of awkward chemistry professor Sherman Klump , who discovers a potion that transforms him into the suave, cocky lady-killer Buddy Love . The big difference between the two versions is that Murphys Sherman is not only a nerdy intellectual but is also grossly obese, which provides the opportunity for some hilarious digital transformation effects, as well as some gentle satire of our cultures attitudes toward fat people. As he did in the hit Coming to America, Murphy plays multiple roles, & the scenes at the Klump family dinner table, in which he plays everybody, are brilliantly funny. Lewis based his Buddy Love on the 1960s ideal of cool exemplified by Sinatra & the Rat Pack; Murphy stumbles a bit by playing up the oily phoniness of his latter-day Love a little too soon, but for the most part The Nutty Professor represents a welcome return to form for Eddie Murphy.

Eddie Murphy is an African-American comedian & actor. Murphy began his comedy career at the young age of 19, as a performer on NBC s Saturday Night Live television show. His characters include a parody of Buckwheat from the Little Rascals & of Fred Rogers. Murphy later starred in many comedies including the Beverly Hills Cop series, Trading Places & Coming to America. He is a versatile voice actor & voiced the donkey in the Shrek series & the dragon in Disney s Mulan. In many of his films, he plays multiple roles in addition to his main character. A perfect example of this is The Nutty Professor, a remake of the Jerry Lewis classic in which Murphy plays several members of the Klump family as well as Sherman Klumps arrogant alter ego, Buddy Love. His early comedy was racy, akin to Richard Pryor, whom Murphy says was the one that wanted to get into comedy. Jada Pinkett Smith is an American actress born in Baltimore, Maryland. Since 1997, she has been married to actor & musician Will Smith. Smith attended the Baltimore School for the Arts. It was there that she met the late Tupac Shakur. The two excelled at friendship. Smith is quoted as saying that she knew both of them were going to make it but wasnt sure to what degree. Together they studied classical art forms such as ballet. Smith is quoted on the autodidacticism page. The Wachowski Brothers are very unique.
