Oh My Goddess!, known as Ah! My Goddess in Japan & in some English releases, is a manga & anime series by Kosuke Fujishima. The manga began in 1988 as an unintentional spinoff from Youre Under Arrest. It proved to be popular & a five episode OVA series began in 1991, produced by AIC. A comedic super deformed TV series, Adventures of Mini-Goddess, began in 1998, produced as part of the omnibus show Anime Complex on WOWOW. A movie was produced in 2001. In January 2005, a   has started airing in Japan. It has the same voice cast as the 5-episode OVA series, but will not continue its storyline. It is orientated towards the manga storyline. The story centers around Keiichi Morisato, a hapless college student who loves motorbikes. One day, Keiichi accidentally dials a goddess hotline & the beautiful goddess Belldandy appears before him, offering him one wish. Assuming this is a joke, Keiichi wishes that Belldandy would stay with him forever & his wish is immediately granted.

I really enjoyed this. Alot of people had just discarded this one because of its cutesy look but when i looked at the back & saw the animation i bought it straight away. The animation is so crisp & smooth its amazing. you could compare it to a fine tuned Tenchi.

The story may be a little confusing to some if you have not read the manga or wathced the series - oh my goddess. I think at times it tries to fill you in however. The story centres around Beldandi a goddess who is sworn to grant the wish of her client. Her client incidentally wished for her to stay with him & she falls in love. In this installment a strange man appears & kidnaps Beldandi & the story starts from here.

Again the animation is stunning, The length of the dvd is quite impressive & the light hearted comedy is great. The extras on the disc are really good too - the best of which being an episode of the mini goddess series, which my girlfriend has the full series & is AMAZING & funny beyond belief. all in all then a great Dvd despite its high price tag & one that will warm your heart. aw!

Kikuko Inoue is one of the most popular singers & voice actresses in Japan. She was born September 25, 1964. She has been part of the singing groups DoCo & Goddess Family Club, among others.
