Robbie the Reindeer is as short as many of the made-for-TV classics that have preceded it. However, so much action, zippy dialogue & witty visual puns have been packed into its 29-minute running time that youd swear it was longer. The content of the film, like many new animations & cartoons, is geared slightly in favour of older audiences, because of its sexual innuendos & adult comedy, but the kids will love the slapstick comedy & loveable characters. Robbies father is another stop-motion favourite, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, & pop is keen to see his loveable, but lazy, son follow in his famous hoof prints. The adult theme continues in the shape of the storyline, which was actually inspired more by Rocky than by Rudolph. As in Rocky, theres a supportive female & a crusty trainer . Together they help Robbie get in shape for the Reindeer Games, where hell have the chance to show Santa whether he has the right stuff or not. Fans of Aardman Animations should appreciate the detailed animation & clever humour. The cream of Britains comic crop provides the voices, including Jane Horrocks as Donner. Robbie Williams narrates the story, & Mark Knopfler provides the music.

Biography: Robbie Williams
[Top]
Robert Peter Williams is a British pop singer. Originally a member of the hit boy band Take That, he was fired from the group in 1995 & quickly launched a solo career following a highly publicized battle with drug & alcohol addiction during which he put on nearly 40 pounds & was often seen in public poorly dressed, dirty & unshaven. // Williams quickly became a major celebrity in the UK with numerous top ten singles. His second album Ive Been Expecting You continued the James Bond/spy theme & topped the UK charts in October 1998. In 1999 he collaborated with singer Tom Jones for a track on the album Reload. He had a minor hit in the United States in 2000 with the song Rock DJ, but has never achieved the same level of fame & success there as he has in the UK. The video for the song featured Williams in a roller disco as he stripped nude & then proceeded to strip off his own flesh, muscle tissue & organs until he was a dancing skeleton. It is said that the frontal nudity was edited out in the US while the gore was left in, whereas the opposite was true for the UK. Posters Of Robbie Williams
