Balamory - Mysteries With P.C. Plum
Background Information: Balamory [Top] Balamory is a live action television series on UK TV for preschool children based around the small island community of Balamory in Scotland. Miss Hoolie, the nursery schoolteacher, lives in a green house. Archie, the inventor, lives in a pink castle. Josie Jump, the fitness instructor, lives in a yellow house. Edie McCredie, the bus driver, operates from a blue garage. PC Plum, a camp policeman, works in a white police station. Spencer, an American painter, lives in an orange house. Suzie Sweet & Penny Pocket operate a sweet shop & tea room in a red house. A typical episode begins with Miss Hoolie opening the nursery & telling the audience what the weather is like in Balamory today & then meeting one of the other main characters who has a problem that can be solved by visiting another main character. The main character with the problem sings & dances to a calypso -style song to decide which of the coloured houses is the one for me & then makes a procession of visits to various of the houses until the problem is solved.
Consumer DVD Review [Top] As we live overseas we only get Balamory occasionally on BBC Prime & my now 2 year old was always asking to watch it as he was enchanted with all the different colours & people. I was ecstatic when the BBC finally released the first Balamory video/dvd in November as im now able to put it on whenever he asks, even my 10 month old enjoys it, cant wait until they release the next one in February as its definately one of my more favourite childrens educational programmes.
