First off, I have to say wot a great film this is, thats not well known ,how ?!! Well being a fan of mickey rourke movies such as angel heart,desperate hours i decided to purchase this little walter hill classic-not knowing it would be a classic old skool eighties flick.

I wont say to much about the plot,as its pretty basic. Mickeys face is deformed-hence title johnny handsome & hes in a lot of trouble with the law. And gets a second chance-new face-new life. But can he really change,you will have to see! If you now walter hill, you can expect the usuall violence & action!

Overall a great old classic 80s B! I was tempted to give 4 stars though, as i hoped there could have been a bit more depth in some of the characters,but most wouldnt care, what the hell- mickey is great as johnny,his old skool acting style deserves 5 stars!

Philip Andre Rourke Jr. is an iconic American actor. He grew up in the tough neighborhoods of an area known as Liberty City in Miami, USA. Upon leaving, he would go on to study at the legendary Lee Strasberg Institute. Rourke made his film debut in Steven Spielbergs 1941 in a very small role. Consequently, he garnered instant acclaim for his role as the arsonist in Body Heat. His part in that film is a classic example of making much of a character with little screentime. Moreover, the early 80s would prove promising for the young actor as he starred in Diner, Rumble Fish & The Pope of Greenwich Village alongside his good friend & fellow actor Eric Roberts. As the decade progressed, Rourke joined the canon of leading actors of the time & evovled into arguably the biggest sex symbol of his acting generation, a title no doubt fueled by his role alongside Kim Basinger in the controversial box-office hit Nine 1/2 Weeks. Walter Hill is an American film Director & a member of the movie brat generation. Hill broke into the film industry after working on The Getaway for Sam Peckinpah. Hills main passion has been the Western through the work of John Ford but the majority of his successes have been with slick urban thrillers. Hill scored a couple of cult hits in the late seventies with The Driver, The Warriors & Southern Comfort & had a lucrative Production role in the Alien series of films. Hills The Long Riders released in 1980 was a modern western epic in the style of Peckinpah that failed to find an audience but he enjoyed a major box office hit with the Eddie Murphy vehicle 48 Hrs. Following on from this Hill managed a solid gold box office bomb with Streets of Fire, a retro noir musical relying on a cast of unkown actors, that made back less than a third of its budget.
