The Wood is a 1999 comedy - drama - romance film, written by Rick Famuyiwa & Todd Boyd & directed by Rick Famuyiwa. This film stars Taye Diggs, Omar Epps & Richard T Jones. // Roland is an African-American man who is worried about his future & decides that he needs to find himself by reflecting upon his teenage years. He is just hours away from getting married & starting to have second thoughts. He loves his fiancée, yet he cant stop thinking about Tanya, an old girlfriend from high school. Roland is socializing with his two best friends ; Mike a regular guy & Slim who plays professional basketball in Europe. They talk about growing up in Inglewood, California in the 1980s, when Run DMC & Eric B & Rakim were the most popular music artist; & guys would compared who was hotter, Vanity or Apollonia. Just before his wedding, Roland goes to visit Tanya. But, Mike & Slim are determined to find him & make sure that he follows through with the wedding plans. In 2000, nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Motion Picture.

Omar Hashim Epps is an American actor & musician. Belongs to a rap group called Wolfpak that he formed with his brother in 1991. Began writing screenplays at age ten. Attended Fiorello H LaGuardia High School of Music & Art & Performing Arts in New York, NY. Welcomed his first child with fiance Keisha Spivey in July 2004, a daughter named Kmari Mae.
