Freeway is a 1996 movie starring Kiefer Sutherland, Reese Witherspoon & Brooke Shields. Sutherland plays a serial killer & rapist, Bob Wolverton, who picks up Witherspoons character, Vanessa Lutz, after her car breaks down. The tables are turned, however, as Vanessa eventually shoots him several times & escapes. Bob survives, severely handicapped & Vanessa is put on trial, with everyone believing that Bob is the innocent victim he claims to be. The movie is a dark comedy with a theme of the story of Little Red Riding Hood ; Vanessas goal is to reach her grandmothers house after her mother & stepfather are arrested at the beginning of the movie & Bob, who kills Vanessas grandmother at the end of the movie only to be killed himself, represents the wolf. A classic modern interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood, Matthew Bright manages to both shock & charm by turns. Keifer Sutherland & Reese Witherspoon supply compelling performances as the teacher come serial killer & the not-so-innocent schoolgirl runaway. My only gripe is the sloppy manner the DVD was put together. No anamorphic widescreen picture - just a badly cropped regular cut. The soundtrack is generally flat & the sleeve notes cant even get the name of the serial killer right . Id give the film 5 stars quite happily, but not in this release format.

Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland is a Canadian television & film actor. He was born in London, England while his parents were working there, but was raised in Canada. He is the son of Donald Sutherland & Shirley Douglas, both actors themselves & the grandson of Canadian statesman Tommy Douglas. He has a twin sister named Rachel, who has had a few credits in film production but does not work as an actress. Sutherland is well known for his role as special agent Jack Bauer in US television show 24. 24 was originally intended to be a one time mini-series in which special agent Jack Bauer has to stop a presidential candidate from being assassinated as well as rescue his wife & daughter. The first season was such a hit that there was a second & third season made. A fourth season is due to begin in January of 2005. There is also a graphic novel called One Shot due to come out in the summer of 2004. Reese Witherspoon is an American actress perhaps most familiar as Elle Woods in the film Legally Blonde & its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. Witherspoon was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She attended Stanford University but dropped out before completing her degree requirements. Witherspoon is a direct descendant of John Witherspoon, signer of the United States Declaration of Independence & founder of Princeton University. Her father is a surgeon & her mother is a nurse & college professor. She has a younger brother named John, who works as a real estate broker. Witherspoon married actor Ryan Phillippe on June 5, 1999. They have two children together, Ava Elizabeth Phillippe, born September 9, 1999 & Deacon Phillippe, born October 23, 2003. She is known for her versatility as an actress, playing both comedic & dramatic roles & has won Best Actress awards from the National Society of Film Critics & the Online Film Critics Society. Director, writer & actor Mathew Bright s vision of a surreal, slap-happy & ultra-violent America has informed his work from the beginning. His first major role in film as the twins Squeezit & Renee Henderson for the film Forbidden Zone began with his characters being thrown in a garbage can, raped in a alternate dimensions bordello & decapitated by Satan played by Danny Elfman. Confessions of a Trickbaby, Ted Bundy & Tiptoes. Tiptoes,, was mired in controversy -- he either quit or was fired from the project --- & later showed up to its debut screening to deliver a tirade against his detractors on stage. According to his friend & Forbidden Zone director Richard Elfman during a New York Q&A session, he currently resides above a Mexican whorehouse.
