See Spot Run
Background Information: See Spot Run [Top]
Editorial DVD Review [Top] A family film for an era when family film means scatological jokes, gratuitous violence, & shapeless storytelling, See Spot Run is about par for the course. Punctuated by many a lowbrow moment , Spot has trouble staying true to its major storyline despite the latters redeeming qualities. That story concerns an FBI-trained bull mastiff who flees the wrath of a mobster & ends up in the care of a pooch-averse postman & the latters little neighbour . With a nutball like Arquette in the lead , the antics come fast & furious, including a wild bit of slapstick in which Arquette simultaneously gets his head stuck in a fishbowl & his body densely wrapped in helium-inflated plastic. On the other hand, theres a touching simplicity to the relationship between man & canine, each of whom has been terribly lonely in his own way. Sure, the filmmakers went for some cheap laughs, but there is much else here that is harder earned.
Biography: David Arquette [Top] David Arquette is an American actor from something of a Hollywood dynasty. His sisters Patricia & Rosanna & brothers Alexis & Richmond are all actors. Their father was Lewis Arquette & his father was comic actor Cliff Arquette, best remembered for his Charlie Weaver character, a fixture on the original Hollywood Squares. David achieved his biggest success in the horror trilogy Scream, Scream 2 & Scream 3 as Deputy Dewey. He also met his older wife Courteney Cox on the set & married her in 1999. Their first child, a daughter, was born in 2004. They have also appeared together in a Coke ad on TV in 2003. Arquette is much disliked by professional wrestling fans, after he won the WCW World Heavyweight Title in 2000 in an effort to promote his wrestling-based movie, Ready to Rumble. The angle was hugely unpopular; even Arquette himself reportedly thought it was a bad idea, before being convinced to do the stunt.
