Biography: Brian Little [Top] Brian Little is an English football player & manager. On leaving school in 1970 he signed for Aston Villa who had just been relegated to the Third Division for the first time in their history. He made 247 appearances for the club & scored 60 goals & made one full international appearance for England in 1975. At club level Aston Villa were the only team he ever played for & he was in their League Cup winning teams of 1975 & 1977 as well helping the club climb from the Third to First Division in the early part of the decade. His playing career came to a halt in 1979 when he retired due to a knee injury at the age of 26. Although his playing career was over, Brian Little remained on the Aston Villa payroll as youth team coach. But when manager Tony Barton was sacked in the summer of 1984, Littles contract was also terminated & he became first-team coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers. When Little arrived at Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club was in the middle of three consecutive relegations & by 1986 were in the Fourth Division for the first time with huge debts.
