Python
Background Information: Python [Top]
Consumer DVD Review [Top] Another monster movie about a giant animal that escapes & begins eating the local population of a small village. This time the animal in question is a giant python, which is seemingly more intelligent than a usual snake. It is up to a group of teenage villagers & a cop, along with the scientist who discovered the snake, to try & put an end to it.
Weve all seen films like this before & there is nothing really special to make it stand out. Obviously inspired by Anaconda, the snake is CGI but it does look a lot better than in the film mentioned. The acting is attrocious at times . This film is saved by the presence of Robert Englund who turns out a good performance in the role of the scientist who likes snakes. There are some other nice touches to the film, including some good make-up work for the dead bodies. Of course the film runs like clockwork through most of it in the same formula as the rest of this over-used genre. The part of the film where they try to kill the snake has been done before & its not exciting . It was a straight to video release & you can see why. I think the studio is making a sequel called Pythons. I hope they use the cash wisely & try to invest more in the way of acting. In some places you were rooting for the snake! And that is always a bad sign Biography: Robert Englund [Top] Robert Englund, is an American actor born in Glendale, California.
