Daredevil is a 2003 movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson, who also wrote the screenplay. It is based on the Marvel comics character, written by Frank Miller. A spin-off sequel, involving the character Elektra Natchios, is scheduled for release in 2005. He learns to overcome this disability & develops a form of sixth sense, that allows him to see by using sound waves to create a mental image of his surroundings. His father is murdered by the Kingpin & Murdock vows that he will avenge him. Years later & Murdock works as an attorney, becoming the vigilante known as Daredevil at night. He seeks out & punishes those that he cannot harm in the courtroom. He fights crime in solitude, until he meets Elektra. Murdock warms to Elektra & they become acquainted with each other. After Elektras father is killed by the Kingpins assassin, Bullseye, she believes the murderer to be Daredevil & she seeks him out. Armed with two Sais, she locates him & bests him in a fight. She realises who Daredevil is behind the mask & so she fights with Bullseye, who kills her.

Whether or not one likes Daredevil the movie probably has a lot to do with whether or not one likes Daredevil the comic book. To its credit , Daredevil is one of the most faithful comic-book adaptations to make it to the big screen. Yet in a world where the red-suited crimefighter is hardly a cultural icon in the same league as Batman & Spider-Man, that will mean very little to most filmgoers.

Daredevil tells the story of Matt Murdock , a young lawyer who spent his youth getting kicked around by life in Hells Kitchen, NYC. Hes blinded at an early age in an industrial accident, but when he recovers, he discovers that his remaining senses are superhumanly acute. When his father, a boxer, is killed by gangsters for refusing to throw a fight, Matt Murdock vows to dedicate his life to fighting for whats right. To that end, he becomes a lawyer by day & a masked vigilante by night, Daredevil, the Man Without Fear.

Using as its source material a classic Frank Miller story line, the film manages to find room for Daredevils origin, his love affair with Elektra & his first meetings with his two arch-nemeses, Bullseye & Kingpin . Colin Farrell has fun with the psychotic Irish assassin Bullseye, who can use nearly any object as a deadly projectile . Michael Clark Duncan adds stone-cold menace to the Kingpin of Crime, the criminal mastermind at the nexus of New Yorks underworld. Yet Daredevil tries to cram too much into its relatively short running time, & ultimately its the relationship between Matt Murdock & Elektra that suffers, Garner does all she can with the character, but she could have benefited from a bit more screen time. And the action sequences, particularly the faster-paced, Matrix-style wire fights, only succeed in making Affleck & Farrell look a bit awkward . Still, Daredevil is a film by comic-book fans, for comic-book fans, packed with cameos & in-jokes sure to appeal to the die-hards. If thats you, then theres much to love here.

Benjamin Geza Affleck, is an American actor. Born in Berkeley, California, he grew up in the Boston, Massachusetts area. He currently lives in Santa Monica, California. He was a child actor, having roles on television series & made-for-television movies when young. He came to national attention when he & good friend Matt Damon wrote the screenplay for Good Will Hunting, for which they won an Academy Award for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. He is also known for his roles in many of Kevin Smith s films - all of them, in fact, except for Clerks. Along with Matt Damon & producer Chris Moore, Affleck founded the production company LivePlanet, through which the three friends created the documentary series Project Greenlight. Afflecks most recent films, including Gigli, Paycheck, Jersey Girl & Surviving Christmas have been box office bombs. In 2002 it was announced that he was engaged to actress/singer Jennifer Lopez & the relationship between the two received an extremely ham-handed treatment by the entertainment media. Colin Farrell is an Irish actor. He was born Colin James Farrell in Castleknock, Dublin. Colin Farrell attend the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin however he dropped out & got the part of Danny Bryne on the Ballykissangel, a BBC television drama set in Ireland. It ran from 1996 till 2001 with Colins part running from 1998 to 1999 He then had a number of small roles in various TV shows & movies till he played the part of Private Roland Bozz in Tigerland in 2000. Since then he has been one of Ireland s rising stars in Hollywood, acting alongside some of Hollywood s finest including Bruce Willis in Harts War, Tom Cruise in Minority Report, Al Pacino in The Recruit & Samuel L Jackson in SWAT. Jennifer Garner is an American film & television actress. Although Garner was born in Texas, her fathers engineering job with Union Carbide took the family to Charleston, West Virginia when she was three years old & she lived in Charleston until she left for college. She studied ballet for nine years before enrolling as a chemistry major at Denison University. After realizing that she loved the stage more than science, she changed her major to drama. She currently stars as the character of Sydney Bristow in the TV show Alias. She married Scott Foley in 2000, but separated & filed for divorce in 2003 & began dating her Alias co-star Michael Vartan, though in the summer of 2004 she was romantically linked with her Daredevil co-star Ben Affleck. She enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking & kickboxing. Garner is known for performing her own stunts & in January 2005 she was forced to bow out of some publicity duties for her film Elektra due to what was first thought to have been a viral infection.
