Baseketball is a 1998 David Zucker comedy starring the creators of South Park, Trey Parker & Matt Stone. The movie follows the history of the imaginary sport of the same name, from its invention by the lead characters as a game they could win against more athletic types, to its development as a nationwide league sport & a target of corporate sponsorship. In the film, baseketball is a mix of baseball & basketball played by two teams of three players each. Meant as a game suitable for people of all ages & abilities, it is played on a relatively small diamond -shaped court with a basketball hoop at the second base position. The ball is roughly basketball sized, smooth & sewn like a baseball. Players wear little or no protective gear. Referees travel the court on roller blades. The rules of the game are not made entirely clear, as it is merely a plot vehicle & not an actual game. For the purposes of the movie, an at bat player stands at home plate holding the ball, preparing to shoot at the basket above second base. Posters Of Baseketball

This is one of the funniest stories ever committed to film! Trey Parker & Matt Stone star in a satirical look at the state of the american sports world! Also starring Yasmine Bleeth Jenny McCarthy & Ernest Borgnine The film starts with the explanation of how sports used to be about competition honour & fun & how thats been trampeled by the pursuit for fame & profit. Fans lose interest when players focus more on their celebrations than the game. Sport becomes so dry that they are forced to hire talents from prisons mental institutions & Texas!

Enter Joe Coop Cooper & Doug Reemer two bums who never grew up. They create a drive-way game, a mixture of basketball with baseball rules hence BASEketball is born. When billionaire Ted Denslowe teams up with Coop & Reemer they take the game national but make sure that all the rules are like they were in the old days when players were treated like endigened servants Now 5 years later Coop & Reemer are the biggest stars of the biggest sport in the country & riding the glory with them is their freind/merk Kenny Squeek Skilari

But everything goes awty when Denslow chokes on his hotdog at a game & passes away at the age of 87 & gives control of the league over to Coop. Enter money hungry millionaire Baxter Kaine, played by Robert Vaughn who wants to change the rules of Baseketball to maximise profits & starts to plot against Coop & turn his freinds against him.

Thats the basic story. Of course there is some sex mixed in there too in the form of Yasmine Bleeth leader of a childrens charity who soon wins the heart of Coop & sees Coop trying to impress her & also form a friendship with little Joey a dying boy who idolise him.

Directed by Naked Gun director David Zucker this is the only film Ive seen Parker & Stone in without either of them having a writers credit although the style of the film is very Trey Parker-esque which makes me think that they had a lot of input into their characters & gags!

This film is absolutely hilarious & has so many great scenes & jokes that it makes you laugh for a solid 95 minutes. There will be some scenes that will have you crying like a baby. Especially a middle scene that takes place in the hospital & shows that you should never do tequila shooters right before a liver operation!

The DVD icludes extra features like interviews with cast & director. In the extra features Trey & Matt jokingly say they just wanted to make the silliest movie ever. And considering that they were just launching South Park at the time of this movie involving exhausting 18-20 hour work days for the 2 you wonder where they got the energy that exudes off them in the film!

If youre a Parker/Stone fan youve probably seen it & loved it. If youve watched a couple of episodes of South Park & laughed or liked the Naked Gun movies you will laugh your lungs out.

Matthew Stone is one of the co-creators of the television series South Park. Though he was born in Houston, Texas, Stone was raised in the Denver suburb of Littleton, Colorado. He holds degrees in film & mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1997, Comedy Central debuted South Park, which he & Trey Parker created. He graduated from Columbine High School. On South Park, he is the basis for the fictional character Kyle Broflovski, from the characters appearance to his parents. In 2002, Stone was interviewed in the 2002 Michael Moore documentary, Bowling for Columbine. In the film, there is a short animated segment about the history of guns done in what has been described as a south park-esque manner. Stone, who enjoyed the film, expressed anger over what he saw as a misleading attempt by Moore to insinuate that the South Park creators had a hand in the making of the film when in fact both Stone & Parker own guns as do their families.
