Oceans Eleven is a 2001 remake of the 1960 Rat Pack movie Oceans Eleven. The 2001 movie was directed by Steven Soderbergh & starred George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Andy Garcia & Julia Roberts. In 2004, Soderbergh directed an original sequel, Oceans Twelve. the Bellagio, The Mirage & the MGM Grand, all of which store their money in a central, high-tech bank vault. All three casinos are owned by Terry Benedict, the man currently dating Oceans ex-wife, Tess. The robbers foil the elaborate security mechanisms to get to the vault with the casinos money & escape by disguising themselves as a SWAT team. Other than the lead character, none of the robbers in the remake share names with robbers in the original, although they do exhibit some of their personality quirks. The Terry Benedict character bears some resemblance to Steve Wynn, the developer behind the Bellagio & the Mirage. Posters Of Oceans Eleven

DVD Extras: Ocean's Eleven on disc is hardly swarming with special features, but just like all good heists it's quality not quantity that counts. Although the DVD-ROM feature is simply a game of computer blackjack, the cast list simply that & the HBO special just a standard Hollywood promo, the two refreshing & honest commentaries more than compensate. The cast commentary is lively & it's nice to hear intelligent comments coming from Hollywood's big league for a change. However, it's the director & writer's commentary that is the real gem; it's funny, enlightening & most of all it allows Ted Griffin to put the case forward for all screenwriters across the world as to the importance of their craft. The main feature has an impressive transfer of sound & visuals, making the suits sharper & David Holmes' soundtrack even funkier.

Oceans Eleven improves on 1960s Rat Pack original with supernova casting, a slickly updated plot & Steven Soderberghs graceful touch behind the camera. Soderbergh reportedly relished the opportunity to make a movie that has no desire except to give pleasure from beginning to end, & he succeeds on those terms, blessed by the casting of George Clooney as Danny Ocean, the title role originated by Frank Sinatra. Fresh out of jail, Ocean masterminds a plot to steal $163 million from the seemingly impervious vault of Las Vegass Bellagio casino, not just for the money but to win his ex-wife back from the casinos ruthless owner . Soderbergh doesnt scrimp on the capers comically intricate strategy, but he finds greater joy in assembling a stellar team & indulging their strengths as actors & thieves. The result is a film thats as smooth as a silk suit & just as stylish. ,

George Timothy Clooney is an American film & television actor probably best-known for his former role in the long-running television drama ER. He has also appeared in a number of movies such as Return of the Killer Tomatoes, From Dusk Till Dawn, One Fine Day, Batman & Robin, Out of Sight, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Oceans Eleven, Welcome to Collinwood, Intolerable Cruelty & Oceans Twelve, along with guest appearances on sitcoms such as Roseanne & Friends. He played a handyman on television series The Facts of Life. He is the son of Cincinnati news anchor & TV host Nick Clooney, a nephew of actress & singer Rosemary Clooney & a cousin of actor Miguel Ferrer ; another cousin, Gabe Ferrer, is married to Debby Boone. He made his debut as a film director in the 2002 feature Confessions of a Dangerous Mind an adaptation of the implausible autobiography of groundbreaking TV producer Chuck Barris. Steven Soderbergh is an American film director. Soderberghs first film, Sex, Lies & Videotape which he both wrote & directed, won the prestigious Palme dOr at the Cannes Film Festival & became a worldwide commercial success. He was at the time the youngest ever filmmaker to receive that award. In 2001 he received an Academy Award for Best Director for Traffic, while another of his films Erin Brockovich featuring Julia Roberts, was also nominated in the same category. His subsequent two films Oceans Eleven & Full Frontal, also had a role for Roberts. Other regular actors to work with Soderbergh are Luis Guzmán, Don Cheadle, Catherine Keener & George Clooney, with whom he co-owns the production company Section Eight Productions that produced films including Far From Heaven, Insomnia & Clooneys directing debut Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Soderbergh often works as his own director of photography under the alias of Peter Andrews. In March 2002, Soderbergh was elected First Vice President of the Directors Guild of America.
