Master P is a rapper, known for his work as the head of No Limit & the rappers signed to it. He comes from New Orleans & attended the University of Houston on a basketball scholarship. However, he soon dropped out of college & moved to Richmond, taking business class at Merritt Junior College. Using his grandfathers inheritance, Master P formed No Limit as a record store, then turned it into a label. Master Ps debut album was The Ghetto Is Trying to Kill Me ; it was followed by a compilation of No Limit artists called West Coast Bad Boyz. No Limit launched a string of hits, popular among mainstream audiences in spite of critical cries of a watered-down sound. Master Ps own solo albums include 99 Ways to Die, Ice Cream Man, Ghetto Dope & Da Last Don. Miller then financed two films, Im Bout It & I Got the Hook Up before trying to return to basketball. He returned to music with 1999 s Only God Can Judge Me, followed by Ghetto Postage & Game Face.
Biography: Snoop Dogg
[Top]
Calvin Cordozar Broadus is a rap musician & actor. His mother nicknamed him Snoopy as a child & he took the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg when he began recording. Snoop Dogg was frequently in trouble with drugs & the law as a young man, in & out of jail for the three years after he graduated from high school. He began making homemade rap tapes with his friend Warren G, who was a stepbrother of Dr Dre of NWA. Dr Dre began collaborating with the young rapper, first on the theme song of the film Deep Cover & then on Dr Dres debut solo album The Chronic. While recording his own debut album Doggystyle with Dre in August of 1993, Snoop Dogg was arrested in the shooting death of Phillip Woldermarian, a member of a rival gang who was later revealed to have had a secret obsession with Snoop ; he was eventually acquitted on both self defense grounds & because he allegedly drove the car while his bodyguard McKinley Lee fired the fatal shots. Snoop remained entangled in the legal battles around the case for three years.
