Corky Romano
Background Information: Corky Romano [Top] Corky Romano is a 2001 movie starring former Saturday Night Live cast member Chris Kattan. Also starring is Fred Ward. The movie was directed by Rob Pritts & was written by David Garrett & Jason Ward. It was filmed at Touchstone Pictures studios. In the movie, Kattan plays Corky Romano, a veterinarian who is forced by his family to infiltrate the local FBI facility to steal evidence incriminating his father, Mafia boss Francis A Pops Romano, of racketeering charges. It first opened in theaters on October 12, 2001 & its runtime is 1 hour & 26 minutes. Most of the humor in this comedy can be characterized as goofy or slapstick. In one scene, Corky tries to wrestle a bag of cocaine away from an FBI dog & the bag explodes in Corkys face & the dogs. The dog runs away, pulling out the pole that it is tied to. Later, FBI chief Howard Schuster tells Corky to speak to a group of elementary school children about law enforcement. Corky stumbles through the speech, obviously feeling the effects of the cocaine. He is very hyperactive & mutters nonsense.
Consumer DVD Review [Top] I first saw this film on TV in 2005 & did not expect much after the Radio Times rating of 1 star. However, I found myself laughing for most of the movie that is similar to a spoof, much like the Naked Gun or Police Academy movies - but fresh & exciting. It is certainly cheesy but well worth a try. Its a good comedy with a few famous faces. Youll enjoy Corkys slip-ups, accidents & slapstick humour! One of the few REALLY funny films.
