Jungle 2 Jungle is a 1997 Disney comedy film starring Tim Allen, Martin Short & Sam Huntington. Michael Cromwell is a self-absorbed, successful commodities broker living in New York city. Wanting to marry his new fiancee, he needs to obtain a final divorce from his first wife, Patricia, who left him some years earlier. Patricia now lives with a primitive tribe in the Amazon jungle. Cromwell travels there to get her signature on divorce papers, but, upon arriving, discovers he has a 13 year-old son, Mimi-Siku. Cromwell attempts to bond with Mimi-Siku in his brief stay with the tribe, but against his protests, is coerced into bringing Mimi-Siku back with him to New York so he can prove himself a man. As Cromwell attempts to adapt Mimi-Siku to city life, hilarity insues while Mimi-Siku continually reverts to his primitive ways. Mimi-Siku & the daughter, Karen, of Cromwells partner, Richard Kempster, fall in love. They engage in a short, harmless romance, but it causes distress for Kempsters family who fears Mimi-Siku may harm or deflower her.

If youve only seen this movie on VHS, youve missed the whole frame of some fabulous photography of the Venezuelan rainforest, & a dramatic upgrading of the sound quality. Since the sound includes a magical score by Michael Convertino, this makes a big difference to the viewing pleasure.

If youve never seen the movie, you have in store for you Tim Allens best & most endearing film performance, a sharp & attractive one from Sam Huntington as Tims 13-year old son, & the majestic JoBeth Williams as Tims wife & Sams mother.

Beginning & ending in Venezuela, the story is closely based on Little Indian, Big City, but retells it with added warmth & wit. Tim discovers he has a son when he visits the wife who left him to work as a doctor in the jungle, neither of them then knowing she was carrying his child. The bulk of the ensuing comedy is the culture clash arising when Tim brings son Sam back to New York & his yuppie lifestyle.

Throw in the Russian Mafia & a burgeoning love affair between two thirteen year-olds , & you have an often-laugh-out-loud family Disney comedy with moments of real visual & musical beauty. Even our sons in their late teens still love this!

Martin Hayter Short is an actor, writer & producer best known for his comedy work. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Short has created many memorable characters over the years. Perhaps his best known are those he played on Saturday Night Live. Short was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 1994. His father was Charles Short, the vice president of a Canadian car company, who came to North America as a stowaway from Ireland; he died in 1972. His mother Olive was a violinist & a former child prodigy. She was the first female concertmaster in North America. She died of cancer in 1970. Tim Allen is an American comedian & actor. He was born Timothy Allen Dick in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in suburban Detroit, Michigan & attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, where he was arrested & consequently sent to prison for drug offences. Following his release, Allen became a successful stand-up comedian. He rose to fame with the television series Home Improvement on ABC in which he played Tim the toolman Taylor. At one point in the 1990s, he starred in the most watched television show, Home Improvement, the highest grossing film, The Santa Clause & had the best selling book in North America, Dont Stand Too Close to a Naked Man, at the same time. John Pasquin is a director of film, television & theatre. He began directing Broadway Plays in the early 1980s. He also directed TV shows such as Family Ties & Growing Pains. His producing debut came in 1991 with the hit show Home Improvement. He has directed three Tim Allen movies as well, The Santa Clause 1994, Jungle 2 Jungle 1997 & Joe Somebody 2001.
