Background Information: Wire In The Blood
[Top]
The Synchronicity episode of Wire In The Blood series details an investigation into a sniper who randomly chooses victims to kill off in the city streets of Bradfield, London. This episode is about fate & coincidence, also the choices we must make when faced with self-mortality. The philosophical ideas that weave themselves through Series 3, are most unsettling. Are the snipers victims connected? with the response by Dr Hill; Its human nature to look for patterns in things, who paraphrases C Jung/ Master of Synchonicity. Were so desperate for meaning that we invent it & the episode asks of us If victims of a shooting spree are truly random, how can we stop a murderer before he kills again? In attempting to comprehend the motives behind these senseless murders, Dr Tony Hill, an enigmatic yet complex clinical psychologist teams up with the driven, yet sensitive Detective Inspector Carol Jordan to tackle seemingly impenetrable cases.

In deference to Dragon, I am a woman, but not the type to turn a head atevery good looking actor in the business. We have so few decent dramaseries in the US, that Ive taken to watching BBC America regularly. Itsthe only place where I can watch intelligent dramas, mysteries andcomedies. Its that bad in the US right now. I always watch the premiereepisode to see if the show is worth watching. Some are & some arent.

My first encounter with Wire in the Blood was The Mermaids Singing. I only got to see half of it, but BBCA usually plays any set of seriestwice before taking it off, so I knew Id see it again.

The Mermaids Singing was incredible. Intense, frustrating andexciting. The same with Shadows Rising & Justice Painted Blind. With TMS, my heart was pumping as Tony Hills door bell rang. Hill is onthe phone trying to get a message to DI Jordan when the attacker takeshim. Strung up in Strapaedo Hill puts his mind to work to gainhis captors trust, even though the viewer can feel the panic he is tryinghard not to succumb too.

There is a wonderful chemistry between all the players. This series is anassemble cast series, although the two main players, Dr. Tony Hill & DI Carol Jordan have a special relationship. She has made it obvious that she fancies him & is vocal about it. He isat a loss of how to deal with it, but if you read the book, his behavioris more understandable. At times, you can wonder if their romance willever get off the ground, but if the series follows the trend of thenovels, it will. The dvds are good & the special features are average. Short interviewsand biographies. The real jems are the films themselves. I do own these 3 films & I do recommend them to anyone, especiallyAmericans, who wish intelligent dramas & murder mysteries.
