Background Information: Bottom
[Top]
Bottom was a British sitcom of the early 1990s written by Rik Mayall & Adrian Edmondson, who were the shows main stars, playing Richard Richard & Edward Elizabeth Hitler respectively; they share a flat in Hammersmith. Richie is a perpetually optimistic dimwit; Eddie is a cheerfully violent dipsomaniac. Their arguments often lead to exaggeratedly violent fight scenes. Some have likened this to a live action cartoon, however, the violence contained in the series is somewhat more graphic – heads slammed in & under refrigeraters, hands stapled to tables, legs being chainsawed off, candles shoved in eyes, penises set on fire, fingers cut off, televisions smashed over heads, darts thrown in eyes, faces shoved in camp fires, legs broken or teeth knocked out. Richie is known to be a virgin & has a microscopic penis. He usually wears a white shirt & black tie, blue jeans & he has a light brown raincoat. Eddie is an alcoholic. He wears glasses akin to those of Eric Morecambe, a brown suit & a white shirt with a black tie. He also has a brown pork pie hat & a navy blue overcoat.

At first i wasnt sure weather or not a bottom live show would work or not but after seeing the first one i was convinced,it definetly works.Rik mayall & adrian edmondson are funny as ever in this second live outing as richie & eddy ,two very sad men on a quest for women, money & the queen, this is the best bottom live show in my opinion the gags come thick & fast & there were very few moments when i wasnt laughing the only thing is there are no extras on the dvd which is a big let down.Bottom line, this is a classic live show & if your a fan of bottom you wont mind the lack of extras & just enjoy this great show.Highly recommended.

Biography: Rik Mayall
[Top]
Rik Mayall is a British comedian & actor. He is well known for his comedy partnership with Adrian Edmondson & was one of members of the alternative comedy scene in the early 1980s. When he was three, Mayall & his parents moved to Redditch, Worcestershire, where he spent the rest of his childhood. He studied drama at Manchester University & gained fame by appearing at The Comedy Store in the Eighties along with Edmondson. They starred as The Dangerous Brothers, supposedly a couple of naive but anarchic daredevils & would perform comedy stunts on stage, often involving the likes of setting each other on fire. They effectively brought slapstick to the alternative comedy scene, albeit in a typically extreme fashion. A role as Rik in The Young Ones sitcom, also in the Eighties, ensured wide public acclaim. The series was written by Mayall with long-standing friend Ben Elton & Lise Mayer. Additional material was provided by anarchist comedian & actor Alexei Sayle. Posters Of Believe Nothing
