The Backstreet Boys, or BSB, is a boy band & pop group that rose to considerable popularity in the late 1990s & has since broken music & concert sales records, having sold more than 87 million albums to make them the highest-selling boy band on record. The five-member group consists of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A,J. McLean & Kevin Richardson. // Lou Pearlman, an aviation entrepreneur based in Florida, was inspired by the success of the New Kids on the Block in the 1980s to create his own clean-cut boy bands. After a series of auditions in 1992 & 1993, he recruited Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, 19, Alexander James McLean, 14 and, following the departure of two members - Sam Licata & Charles Edwards - Kevin Richardson came aboard in March 1993, who was 20. The group took its final shape on April 19, 1993, when Brian Littrell - cousin of Richardson - joined the group after a phone audition. Howard Dwaine Dorough & better known in the show business plainly as Howie Dorough is a native of Orlando, Florida & a Puerto Rican through his mother. He is a member of world famous boy band, The Backstreet Boys. He declared that his mother is from Puerto Rico at an interview with a teen magazine. Dorough had a passion for the entertainment business since he was 3 years old, when he would jump on his grandparents bed, singing Baby Face while strumming his tiny guitar. At the age of 6, Dorough participated in a Orlando production of The Wizard of Oz to get his start in show business, this would only be the start of a string of musicals he would do in the local Orlando scene. Throughout high school he was actively involved in theatre & chorus. He rented out the production equipment often, having participated & created a show by the name of Macho & Camacho during his high school years. Nick Carter is an Italian comic strip created in 1972 as a semi-animated cartoon for one of the most popular Italian TV show of the 1970s, Gulp! : authors were Guido De Maria & Franco Bonvicini. The first run comprised 11 stories, later reprinted as normal comic strips for Il Corriere dei Ragazzi & subsequently in numerous other magazines & books. In 1977 the character was revamped for the follow-on TV series SuperGulp!, with other 17 stories. Nick Carter adventures amount to a total of some 80, including these created for the TV shows & later adapted for comics magazines. Several stories were drawn by Silver & Clod. Nick Carter, whose name is inspired to that of the John Russell Coryell s detective, is a short, old-fashion detective which is usually called by other authorities or by privates to solve intricate cases. These are normally occasions to satirize famous movies, comics characters or existing persons. Humouristic versions of horror & science fiction themes are sometimes present.
