Set in New Jersey, this is about the murder of James Urbanski & tells of the tempestuous marriage between the dead man & his wife Joyce through a series of flashbacks, which lead up to the murder.

The story is told from the point of view of Cynthia Kellogg who is being interviewed by policeman Harvet Kietel since she is Joyces childhood friend. It is this close bond that keeps Cynthia in contact with Joyce inspite of her marriage to the overbearing James. She finds their relationship very difficult to deal with at times & feels caught in the middle, even having to intercept an attempt on James life by Joyce.

The way Cynthia tells it there is little doubt Joyce killed her husband, but when Joyce tells a different story, the police dont know who to believe & have to rely on braking the killer down to obtain a confession. The story gets all the more complex when theres another killing... Maybe this film is more in the vein of a tv movie but it is skillfully executed & the performances from all are very good. I found it very compelling & it keeps you guessing to the end.
