Background Information: Erotic Ghost Story

Erotic Ghost Story is a Hong Kong erotic film directed by Ngai Kai Lam & starring Amy Yip, So Man, Hitomi Kudo & Manfred Wong. It was released in 1987, though many sources cite a 1990 date. It is otherwise also known as Liao zhai yan tan. Erotic Ghost Story revolves around three fairies who have attained human form. Upon helping a hapless scholar, the trio begin to have lustful thoughts about him. This soon leads to many erotic romps & the eventual discovery that he is a dangerous demon. Some consider the film to be a loose remake of the film The Witches of Eastwick. Erotic Ghost Story was a breakthrough film for Amy Yip, who went on to have a career starring in similarly sexy roles such as Sex & Zen, garnering a cult following of fans in the process. The film was also followed by two sequels which were unrelated in plot. Erotic Ghost Story II is particularly notable for featuring Anthony Wong Chau Sang in an early role.

Amy Yip Chi-mei is an actress whose lithe frame & disproportionately large breasts made her one of the leading sex symbols of the Hong Kong cinema in the late 1980s & early 1990s. // Amy Yip is best known for her roles in Hong Kong Category III films such as Sex & Zen & Erotic Ghost Story. Her efforts to avoid fully exposing her breasts in adult movies through clever use of camera angles became known as the Yip tease. Yip first came to notice by appearing in various television series in the mid-1980s. Erotic Ghost Story in 1987 proved to be a breakthrough role & she became one of the most popular actresses in Hong Kong in the late 1980s & early 1990s. She retired from acting in 1997 to get married. In the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode The Dark Age Buffy, Willow & Xander play a game called Anywhere But Here, in which they describe exactly where they would rather be at that time & in whose company.
