George A Romero invented this genre of movies, but he intergrated a comedy factor into almost all of his zombie gorefests. Lucio Fulci's Zombie Flesh eaters however, is full on horror with almost no humour at all.

Everytime I watch this movie I find the music very haunting & regard it as one of the simplest but most effective musical scores in cinematic history. However I think i'd have a hard time finding someone who would agree with me on that one, but its true!

The plot is very simple. A womans father who has been working somewhere in the equator has been reported missing, & two of his boats have been found abandoned, with all the crew brutally eaten alive. With no time to waste, the woman sets off with a few other people to find her father. However, after realisingthe dead are returing to life on the desert island, & with nowhere to hide, will she make it out alive?

The whole thing starts off rather slow, with little action, gore or horror until the last 30 minutes. Infact, the film overall is rather slow paced, which is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Now the bit you've all been waiting for. The gore. And yes, there is plenty. Although maybe not as gorey as Dawn of the Dead, it's all done in a fantastically realistic way. However the 'splinter in the eye' scene is not as impressive as it's made out to be.
