Consumer DVD Review

Madonna has been one of the most prolific video artists of the last twenty years, & this 2nd compilation shows why.

The best videos on here are the murder mystery of Bad Girl / the Matador love affair in Take A Bow / the poignant & thought provoking Drowned World / the gothic & dark Frozen / the fast paced, image laden visual treat that is Ray Of light / & the incredible / the very surreal Bedtime Story / the beautiful B&W simplicity that is Secret / Rain & Power of Goodbye are so incredibly stylised & not forgetting the sheer fun & tom-foolery with Austin Powers in Beautiful Stranger.

The collections weakest moments include Human Nature, a better video than the song, & the poor Love Don’t Live Here Anymore .

A bonus though is Fever, a simple dance to camera video which is laden with costume changes & special effects.

There are a couple of omissions though which I personally would have liked on here. The sexy, grainy Erotica , & the 70’s themed Deeper & Deeper

With no extras to speak of, this is still an incredible compilation of videos from a woman who is without doubt one of the leaders in her field.

Biography: David Fincher
[Top]
David Fincher is a film director. Born in Denver, Colorado, Fincher started as an animator at Industrial Light & Magic in 1980 & stayed until 1984. In 1986, he founded the video-production company Propaganda Films. He directed big-budget videos for artists such as Madonna, George Michael, Aerosmith & the Rolling Stones, as well as commercials. Like a number of other video directors, including Julien Temple, Russell Mulcahy & Spike Jonze, he then moved into film. His debut was Alienł, which was then the most expensive picture by a first-time director, but was a financial & critical disappointment. Despite this initial failure, Finchers career rebounded with his next film, the dark thriller Se7en. This film, along with the complex & controversial Fight Club has put Fincher in the forefront of his post-video director contemporaries. Even Finchers more conventional work, such as The Game & Panic Room contains his distinctive dark photography with innovative uses of computer graphics. Posters Of Panic Room
