Background Information: Eric Clapton
[Top]
Eric Clapton CBE, is a British guitarist & composer, nicknamed slowhand. Born as an illegitimate son of the 16 year old Patricia Molly Clapp & Edward Walter Fryer, a 24 year old Canadian soldier stationed in the UK, Claptons father returned to his wife in Canada before he was born. Eric grew up with his grandparents believing they were his parents & that his mother was his older sister. Years later his mother married another Canadian soldier, moved to Canada & left Eric with his grandparents. When Eric was 9 years old he found out & the experience became a defining moment in his life. On his 13th birthday he received a guitar which he taught himself to play & at the age of 17 he joined his first band, the Roosters. Growing up listening to blues recording by the likes of Robert Johnson, Clapton first made his name as a member of The Yardbirds, a pop -influenced rock & roll band whose biggest hit For Your Love came whilst Eric was a member. A quote which only Clapton fans will understand, ol slowhand is on tremendous form in this dvd. The dvd contains two of his best loved songs ie Layla & Tears in Heaven. All of the other songs were written by blues legends of yesteryear. Yet Clapton does each song justice. Only thing I didnt like about it was there was not enough of his own material on there. If you are a fan of Eric this should already be in your collection, if its not, GET IT NOW. Even if you dont like him blues fans will love this DVD. Brilliant.
